SRM Contractors Secures Orders Worth INR1.68 Billion

-- SRM Contractors (NSE:SRM, BOM:544158) secured contracts worth a combined 1.68 billion Indian rupees from the National Highways Authority of India and the Public Works Department, Maharashtra, according to a Wednesday filing on Indian bourses.

The NHAI order, valued at 1.28 billion rupees, involves landslide remediation works on the Pandoh-Kullu section of NH-03 in Himachal Pradesh on an EPC basis, the filing said. The order is to be completed in 12 months, it added.

The Maharashtra Public Work Department contract, worth 400 million rupees, covers construction of a road, bridges and culverts on the Nandgaon Peth-Morshi-Warud section of NH-353K, the filing said. The contract is for 18 months, it added.

Energy stocks were higher Tuesday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index rising 1.1% and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) adding 1.2%.The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index was climbing 1.8%, while the Dow Jones US Utilities Index fell 1.3%.Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil was rising 4.8% to $93.94 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract was advancing 4.4% to $99.68 a barrel.
