Singapore's GDP Grows at Slower Pace of 4.6% in Q1

-- Singapore's economy grew by 4.6% year over year in the first quarter of the year, moderating from the 5.7% growth in the previous quarter, according to data released by the Singapore Department of Statistics on Tuesday.

On a quarter-over-quarter seasonally-adjusted basis, the city-state's economy contracted by 0.3%, following a 1.3% expansion in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Growth was led by a 5% year-over-year increase in the manufacturing sector in Q1, which was slower than the 11.4% expansion in the previous quarter.

The construction sector expanded by 9% year over year, following a 4.6% growth in the previous quarter.

Growth in the services-producing industries slightly cooled to 4.7% from 4.8%.

Energy stocks were higher Tuesday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index rising 1.1% and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) adding 1.2%.The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index was climbing 1.8%, while the Dow Jones US Utilities Index fell 1.3%.Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil was rising 4.8% to $93.94 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract was advancing 4.4% to $99.68 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures increased 0.3% to $2.70 per 1 million BTU.In corporate news, Halliburton (HAL) shares gained 4.1% after it reported lower Q1 adjusted net income and revenue that still topped analysts' expectations.
