The World Bank, on Tuesday, warned the Middle East conflict is set to drive up global food costs, as surging energy prices lift fertilizer prices and strain agricultural output.Fertilizer prices are projected to rise 31% in 2026, including a sharp increase in urea prices, reducing affordability for farmers and threatening crop yields, the bank said.The bank added that up to 45 million more people are at risk of being pushed into acute food insecurity this year if the conflict persists, as higher input costs ripple through global food supply chains.The World Bank said the shock highlights how energy disruptions are feeding into food inflation, with the poorest populations the most exposed to rising costs.
Ramelius Resources Posts Lower Gold Production in March Quarter
Ramelius Resources (ASX:RMS) produced 38,093 ounces of gold at an all-in sustaining cost (AISC) of AU$2,211 per ounce in the March quarter, according to a Wednesday filing with the Australian bourse.The company produced 80,455 ounces of gold at an AISC of AU$1,492 per ounce in the March 2025 quarter, an earlier filing showed.The company reaffirmed its fiscal 2026 production guidance of 185,000 to 205,000 ounces, and upgraded its AISC guidance to a range of AU$1,900 to AU$2,050 per ounce, from AU$1,700 to AU$1,900 per ounce, the filing said.
