Research Alert: Tenet Healthcare: Q1 Earnings Beat Despite Hospital Volume Headwinds

CFRA, an independent research provider, has providedwith the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:Tenet Healthcare delivered Q1 adjusted EPS of $4.82 (+10.6% Y/Y), beating consensus by $0.65, while net operating revenues of $5.368B (+2.8% Y/Y) missed consensus by 0.5%. Consolidated adjusted EBITDA of $1.162B remained flat at 21.6% margins vs. the prior-year quarter. The Ambulatory Care segment supported the performance with revenues up 10.6% to $1.320B and adjusted EBITDA growing 6.1% to $484M, though margins compressed 150bps to 36.7%. The Hospital segment faced headwinds from ACA enhanced premium tax credit expiration, with revenues up only 0.5% to $4.048B and adjusted EBITDA declining 4.1% to $678M as margins compressed 80bps to 16.7%. The strong EPS beat and maintained margin guidance suggest confidence in underlying operational trends despite volume headwinds, in our view. THC maintained its FY 2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance of $4.485B-$4.785B while raising the adjusted EPS midpoint 1.2% to $17.53, supported by share repurchases.

Research Alert: Bldr: Q1 Earnings Fall Short Of Expectations; Lowers 2026 Guidance

CFRA, an independent research provider, has providedwith the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:Builders FirstSource (BLDR) posted Q1 adjusted EPS of $0.27 vs. $1.51 (-82%), well short of the $0.37 consensus. BLDR's Q1 sales fell 11% to $3.29B ($130M ahead of consensus), but gross margin contracted 220 bps to 28.3%. BLDR now expects 2026 net sales of $14.6B-$15.6B and adjusted EBITDA of $1.1B-$1.5B, versus prior guidance of $14.8B-$15.8B and $1.3B-$1.7B, respectively. The current 2026 consensus estimates are for sales of $14.91B and EBITDA of $1.39B. Management said it remains focused on factors within its control, including serving customers, expanding its differentiated portfolio of value-added solutions, and leveraging technology to accelerate growth. On the positive side, BLDR said it expects to deliver $50M-$70M in productivity savings in 2026. BLDR's Q1 results underscore the fundamental challenges it faces. The company is navigating a cyclical trough and continues to struggle in the face of a weaker housing market. BLDR's elevated leverage (3.2x) and margin pressure are concerns.

Research Alert: Hershey Beats Q1 Estimates On Pricing Power, But Margins Contract

CFRA, an independent research provider, has providedwith the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:HSY reported Q1 results ahead of expectations. Adjusted EPS rose 12.4% to $2.35 from $2.09, demonstrating solid operational performance. Segment results were mixed. North America Confectionery delivered strong segment income growth of 13.8% to $792M and Salty Snacks sales surged 26% to $350M, while the International segment faced margin pressures. We believe HSY's reaffirmed 2026 outlook, which projects 4%-5% net sales growth, 2.5%-3.5% organic growth, and 30%-35% EPS growth despite ongoing cost inflation, supports the investment thesis and indicates management's confidence in navigating these pressures. However, the adjusted gross margin declined 80 bps to 40.4%, as commodity and tariff headwinds outpaced pricing gains and operational efficiencies. We expect HSY will continue facing near-term margin pressure from cocoa costs and tariffs, though supply chain productivity should provide some offset.
