中東の原油価格高騰の中、オーストラリアの家計支出は3月に1.6%増加

-- オーストラリアの家計支出は3月に過去2年間で最も速いペースで急増した。これは中東紛争による原油価格の高騰が主な要因だ。

オーストラリア統計局(ABS)が火曜日に発表したデータによると、季節調整済みの家計支出は前月比1.6%増となり、前月の0.3%増から大幅に加速した。ただし、市場予想の1.8%増にはわずかに及ばなかった。

ABSのビジネス統計責任者、Tom Lay氏は、「中東紛争を受けて燃料価格が上昇し、輸送費が5.1%増加したことが、3月の家計支出の大幅な増加につながった」と述べた。

イラン紛争が世界の原油市場を混乱させ、特にホルムズ海峡の封鎖によって影響を受けたことで、燃料価格は3月下旬にピークを迎えた。

この燃料価格の高騰は、通勤者が自家用車の利用を控えたため公共交通機関の利用増加にもつながった。また、サプライチェーンへの不安から消費者が食料品を買いだめしたため、食料品支出も1.7%増加した。

コモンウェルス銀行のシニアエコノミスト、Ashwin Clarke氏は、燃料価格の上昇が今年後半の支出伸びの鈍化につながると指摘した。

「年内には支出伸びがさらに鈍化すると予想している」と同氏は述べた。「家計消費の減速は、経済が減速し、均衡に近づくために必要な措置だ」。

ANZのアナリストも同様の慎重な見通しを示しており、エコノミストのAaron Luk 氏とオーストラリア経済担当責任者のAdam Boyton氏は、「第1四半期は比較的堅調な結果となったものの、今後支出伸びは鈍化すると引き続き予想している」と述べた。

一部のアナリストは、原油価格ショックにもかかわらず家計支出が堅調に推移しているため、中央銀行にはインフレ抑制の余地があると見ている。

ブルームバーグ・ニュースによると、キャピタル・エコノミクスは、家計支出が「原油価格ショックにもかかわらず堅調に推移している」ため、オーストラリア準備銀行は「さらなる金融引き締めに強い懸念を抱くことはないだろう」と述べた。

オーストラリア準備銀行(RBA)は火曜日、イラン紛争によって引き起こされたインフレ圧力の高まりを受け、政策金利を25ベーシスポイント引き上げ、4.35%とした。
